Rosenfeld to Teach Step Dancing Workshop
Percussive dancer Malke Rosenfeld will teach an Irish step-dancing
workshop at Berea College on Saturday, November 11 from 1-3 p.m.
in the Seabury Center Dance Studio.
Free and open to the public, the workshop is sponsored by Berea
College Dance Programs.
Malke Rosenfeld
A performer in the hit show "Riverdance" during its London
run, Rosenfeld also toured internationally for two years with the
acclaimed Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble. Along with Irish
step dancing, she is fluent in a variety of dance steps, including
Cape Breton, old-time flat-footing and clogging.
An instrumentalist from childhood, Rosenfeld discovered Irish
music after graduating from College, eventually taking up step
dancing at age 26. She has studied in Ireland and at Cape Breton
Island, Nova Scotia, where she attended the Gaelic College in 1997
and in 2000. As a solo dancer, Rosenfeld has appeared on stage
with artists such as Eileen Ivers, Jerry Holland, Bruce Molsky,
Mick Moloney and others.
Currently, Rosenfeld performs as a percussive dancer and plays
Irish wooden flute, whistles and bodhran with Cucanandy, an Irish
band from North Carolina
