Three
Berea College alumni will be honored during summer reunion activities,
scheduled June 9-11.
The Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumnus Award will
be presented to
1955 graduates Harvey and Doris Hinkle Musser, missionaries
with the Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years in Brazil
and Haiti. The awards will be presented at Saturday's Banquet
in the Alumni Building Main Dining Room at 6:30 p.m.
Sidney Saylor Farr, a 1980 graduate and author of six books
and the retired
editor of "Appalachian Heritage" magazine, will receive
the Alumni Association's Award of Special Merit. The award
will be made at the Alumni Coffee at 10 a.m. Saturday in the
Alumni Building's Baird Lounge.
The weekend's activities will begin with a reception and picnic
Friday
evening in the campo area between the Woods-Penniman Building
and Fairchild Hall beginning at 5 o'clock. The site in case
of rain will be the Alumni Building Dining Room.
At a Saturday luncheon, members of the class of 1950 will
be inducted into
the Charles T. Morgan Society in recognition of their 50th
reunion. On Friday evening members will gather at the home
of 1950 alums Bobby and Louise Corn Hart, and on Saturday morning
will be honored at a reunion breakfast hosted by the Alumni
Association.
Other reunions scheduled are for the classes of 1942, '35,
'40, '45, '50,
'55, '60, '65, '70 and '75. In addition, Knapp Hall classes,
all Foundation School classes through 1955 and Academy classes
from 1940-55 will meet.
Reunion activities will conclude with a Sunday morning worship
service at
Union Church.
Registration will begin Friday at 8 a.m. at the Alumni Building
Front Desk.
