Reunion
 

Berea College classes of 1937, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, and 1977, as well as all Foundation and Academy classes, will celebrate at Summer Reunion, June 7-9, 2002. The Navy V-12 classes will also hold a Reunion at Berea scheduled for May 31-June 2.

Hinchman, 43 Is Named Distinguished Alumnus

Rev. Bill Hinchman, ’43, will posthumously receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the Summer Reunion banquet. His son, Mark Hinchman, will accept the award on his behalf. Hinchman and his wife, Nadine, spent 44 years with the American Baptist Missionary movement in Japan, where he helped establish several churches and
served in Christian education as chancellor for Kanto Gakuin University.

Dr. Maureen Flannery, former physician and acting director for Berea College Health Service, and Molly Levey, who has been active in the music department and played musical accompaniment for the Country Dancers, will be made honorary alums at the Alumni Coffee.

Wheeler Exhibit Opens at Summer Reunion

Billy Edd Wheeler, ’55, famed songwriter and author, will have an exhibit of his paintings in the Boone Tavern parlor from June 8-15, 2002. Wheeler served as Alumni Director from 1958-62. The author of over 20 plays, Wheeler has written more than 500 songs recorded by well-known artists, including Kenny Rogers' "Coward of the County." A reception will be held for the artist on Saturday, June 8, from 3-5 p.m.
