Convocations

At Berea, we want to ensure that you have the most complete education possible. As a result, every year we bring to campus notable speakers, scholars, performers, and authorities on a variety of subjects, both historic and contemporary. These speakers and performers address and enrich the campus community by sharing their expertise and talents. Past guests have included Alex Haley, Morris Dees, Benjamin Hooks, and the Dali Lama.

Convocations topics are often related to areas that students are considering in their classes. Each student is expected to attend seven convocations each term except during their term of graduation. Convocations also provide common l experiences for students, faculty, and staff. These experiences lead toward a more unified academic community.
