A Message from the President

Berea College is a place of learning, labor, and service that has been committed to interracial education and to Appalachia for 150 years. Berea College students are bright, eager and open to developing to the fullest their talents and skills. The liberal arts education at Berea develops those abilities superbly for all vocations and for lifelong learning. The Berea atmosphere encourages habits of reflection and attitudes of caring that foster meaningful lives of service.

Opening windows on new and exciting worlds is also a Berea tradition. For those who seek challenge in the classroom, encouragement to serve others, new learning experiences, and life sustaining friendships, they will find them at Berea College.

Berea has been a unique place of education and outreach for more than 150 years. The tradition continues.

Dr. Larry D. Shinn,
President
