Berea College has an opening for two full-time Carpenters in the Facilities Management Department to provide maintenance as part of a Zone Maintenance Team with a primary emphasis on maintenance and repair of carpentry systems.

 
Responsibilities:
The successful candidates must demonstrate the following: knowledge of the principles and techniques used in both framing and finish carpentry; ability to safely use all types of power tools, machinery and scaffolds; ability to lead and communicate with others involved with campus maintenance; general knowledge of plumbing and carpentry principles and techniques; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Additionally, the individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as plans, blueprints and drawings, and a working knowledge of the Kentucky building code. This position may be exposed to noise and noxious fumes with required personal protective equipment, hazards of sharp tools and running machinery, and extreme temperature and weather conditions; and may work in confined spaces
 
Qualifications:

The successful candidates for this position will have a high school diploma; two years of college or similar training in related field preferred; minimum of five years related experience and demonstrated competence as a carpenter; a diploma or certificate from a recognized trade or vocational school, at high school level or higher with a major in the carpentry trade specified above may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience; a valid driver's license; ability to operate aerial platforms, fork lift, power tools, computer, cars and trucks; ability to do manual labor and lift 50 pounds.
