Berea College announces a tenure-track position in Theatre beginning in August, 2009. Appointment is expected to be at the assistant professor level, with preference given to candidates with the terminal degree in their field. Teaching responsibilities include theatre courses, with some emphasis on acting, script analysis, theatre history and filmmaking, as well as courses in the College's general studies curriculum. Preparation and experience in teaching African-American theatre history or dramatic literature is highly desirable. Duties include directing one or more productions yearly and assisting in supervising student staff in the Theatre Laboratory. As a director, the candidate should support and practice nontraditional casting appropriate to Berea’s diverse student body and its Great Commitments. Superior teaching at the undergraduate level and commitment to the purposes of the College are essential.
