Foundations and Corporations Manager

Intro:

Berea College is actively recruiting for the position of Foundations and Corporations Manager. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, this position will work directly and independently with foundations and corporations, including visits as needed, and will manage the operations and output of the Foundations and Corporations Office, including managing staff, proposals, reports, and grant administration.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for identifying and cultivating major foundation and corporate prospects and developing strategic long-range plans for cultivation; maintaining personal contacts and correspondence with foundation and corporate representatives, and serving as a front-line fundraiser with a portfolio of foundation and corporate supporters. Candidates will also be responsible for:  writing and editing case statements, proposals, letters, reports and other materials; supervise staff; consult with faculty and senior academic management to develop proposals for foundation and corporate support, and interpret corporate and foundation interests to College constituencies; manage aspects of grant administration, as appropriate, and ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful foundation and corporate partnerships.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this position will have the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, significant experience and expertise in professional writing; excellent communication skills; research, analytical and organizational skills; supervisory experience; ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines; knowledge of US private foundations and their grant making practices; ability to form linkages with corporations in order to boost Berea’s corporate philanthropy program. Experience in higher education is preferred.
