Intro:
Berea College is seeking an experienced administrative professional whose educational background, leadership and human resources expertise can be applied at one of this country’s most unique colleges. Founded in 1855 as the first coeducational and interracial school in the South, Berea is noted for its distinctive place in higher education and its superior ranking among liberal arts colleges nationally. Berea’s traditional, park-like campus is located on a picturesque ridge in the Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky, 30 miles south of Lexington.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced professional to provide leadership, supervision and direction for the College’s Human Resources functions. Reporting to the Vice President for Operations and Sustainability, this key management position will be responsible for providing visionary, collaborative, service-oriented leadership for planning, coordinating and maintaining all aspects of the College’s human resources functions.
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, have a customer focused approach to their work and have a solid background in compensation and benefits, recruitment, training, employee relations and legal compliance issues for all of the above. Superior communications skills are a must. Other requirements include the following: an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (a master’s degree is preferred); the ability to effect change in a positive manner; the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues from throughout the campus constituency; a minimum of 10 years previous experience in a senior management position, at least 5 of which should be from a director’s level. SPHR certification is strongly preferred.
