Schedule: Intro: Berea College is currently recruiting a full-time position for a Coordinator of Student Recognition and Intervention. Reporting to the Director, this position will coordinate the efforts of the Office of Academic Services (OAS) related to student academic recognition and intervention to provide academic progress and success. Responsibilities of the Coordinator of Student Recognition and Intervention include the following: coordinate academic intervention efforts; meet with individual students related to academic progress, success, and interventions; instruct GST 101, Strategies of Academic Success, as needed; support institutional committees and processes related to the work of OAS; coordinate the academic recognition efforts of OAS; supervise student workers; assist in the planning and implementation of summer and fall orientation programming and other activities, as needed; provide programmatic and administrative support; maintain budget; provide backup support for the use of the OAS Hobsons communication tool. Qualifications: Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred; experience providing individual student support in an academic advising or student support setting. The successful candidate for this position will have the following skills: deep and genuine commitment to work directly with students to facilitate their development, provide educational opportunity, and foster academic engagement and success; knowledge of student development theories and best practices related to providing academic support to students with limited income and to first-generation college students; knowledge of academic policies related to academic progress and degree completion; ability to work effectively with faculty, with staff, and students; ability to effectively utilize student labor support to provide a meaningful labor experience; ability to show initiative in analyzing and prioritizing daily work; strong written and oral communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; proficient skills in Microsoft Office and Banner applications.
