Academic Specialist, Early Childhood 6 Positions – Promise Neighborhood

Intro:
Berea College is currently recruiting six full-time Academic Specialists in the Promise Neighborhood Initiative. Reporting to the Associate Director of School Based Services the Academic Specialist will be located at various sites in each of the counties (Clay, Jackson and Owsley) in the Promise Neighborhood providing direct services and interventions to students.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Academic Specialist include the following: use data to determine and then provide direct services and/or refer to interventions tailored to the specific needs of individual child/family; meet with families and teachers to develop plans for school readiness for individual children; work with preschoolers, individually and collectively, to provide interventions necessary for school readiness.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood, family and child studies, education, counseling or related field is required; Master’s Degree preferred; experience working in an early learning environment is preferred. The successful candidate for this position will have the following: skills and experiences relating to high-quality early learning programs, knowledge of early childhood environmental assessments and kindergarten standards; understanding of the school readiness, high expectation for all children; and a belief that college and career readiness begins at birth.
