Tutor Counselor – 6 Positions – Upward Bound Math Science

Intro:

Berea College is currently recruiting six temporary seven-week positions with Upward Bound/Upward Bound Math Science. Tutor-Counselors will supervise and live with high school aged students during a six-week residential program.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Tutor Counselor include the following: supervising student activities, free time, and housing; planning and leading enrichment learning activities, classes, and events; supervising and keeping students on task during activities, including during students’ free time; mentoring and acting as a positive role-model for high school students; serving as program support during the day and evening, with responsibilities including: staying with ill students who must miss classes, completing administrative tasks as assigned, maintaining dormitories, facilitating structure and cohesion of TC student group, etc.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this position include two years of college education; similar job experience. The successful candidates for this position will have the following skills: excellent written and oral communication skills, superior interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work in a high energy team environment; teaching and leading youth, group management.
