Intro:
Berea College is currently recruiting for an individual to serve as the Program Associate for Brushy Fork Institute.
Responsibilities:
The Program Associate will work in Appalachian communities, primarily in a four-state region, to coordinate, market and implement programs for leadership and community development. This position assumes the main responsibility for marketing, planning and implementing the Brushy Fork Annual Institute. The candidate will also be responsible for creating resources and designing training processes, implementing workshops and facilitating meetings for organizations and communities, and overseeing mini-grant applications for community projects, which include tracking progress, financial compliance and reporting. The Program Associate will occasionally be required to drive long distances and work long days.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have the following: a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in community development or training; a valid driver’s license is required. -All applicants must have strong interpersonal communication and group facilitation skills and cultural sensitivity to clients from a variety of backgrounds. Applicants must possess excellent writing skills and the ability to think systematically and strategically; project planning and implementation along with workshop and training design skills; basic budgeting and financial reporting skills; and strong computer skills and knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
