Intro:

The Admissions and Financial Aid Offices at Berea College are seeking a motivated and energetic professional to assist in the recruitment and transition efforts of prospective students and their families. This grant-funded position will be a full-time, campus-based position with duties in Admissions and Financial Aid, two key offices that interact with incoming students and families.

Responsibilities:

This position requires an individual to provide counsel and guidance to help families navigate the complicated and emotionally charged college-going process while maintaining a high level of customer service. The primary role for the FEC/FAS in Admissions will be to build a relationship with the families of prospective students through a communication plan, parent information sessions on campus, follow-up communications as appropriate, and other specialized initiatives. In Financial Aid, the FEC/FAS will help families navigate the intricacies of financial aid, discuss first year costs and financial aid packages, as well as manage the federal verification process for incoming students.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have the following: a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; experience with parents/guardians of high schools students is preferred but not required; experience with federal tax returns and federal financial aid (FAFSA) is preferred but not required. All applicants must possess a high customer service aptitude and energy level, be available for limited travel within the region (valid driver’s license required), possess demonstrated computer proficiency and strong organizational skills. Applicants need to have collaboration and listening skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully complete multiple assignments simultaneously. Applicants must be goal-oriented, have the ability to analyze relevant data provided to assist in meeting goals set by the team, and demonstrate outstanding communication and public speaking skills.
