Assistive Technology Specialist

Intro:

Berea College is currently recruiting for an individual to serve as the Assistive Technology Specialist. This is a grant-driven, full-time, twelve-month, two-year position with full employee benefits.

Responsibilities:

The specialist will train students and faculty on the use of various assistive devices such as Window’s Eyes, Natural Reader, Braille Note and other technologies necessary for the needs of students using disability services at Berea College.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Education field, a Master’s Degree in Education or Special Education is preferred; experience working with students with disabilities and using current technologies to assist these students with their academic needs; knowledge of adaptive technologies including Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, and software applications such as Word, Excel and Web 2.0 and familiarity with digital e-book repositories. as well as universal design concepts. All applicants must have knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable federal and state laws which mandate equal access in a post-secondary environment are desirable.
