About
The Concert Choir is a mixed ensemble of approximately
sixty singers open to all Berea students, regardless of major.
The choir performs a variety of music, both sacred and secular.
Music is chosen from a range of historical periods. The Chamber
singers are a select group of students chosen through a special
audition from those who are already members of the Concert Choir.
This group specializes in Renaissance and twentieth-century music
written for small vocal ensembles. They also perform humorous choral
works such as those by P. D. Q. Bach.
The choirs have an active performance schedule. On-campus
appearances include one major concert each semester and events
such as convocations, banquets and commencement. Off-campus appearances
consist of occasional weekend trips and a concert tour during spring
break. The Chamber Singers appear with the Concert Choir at its
concerts but also maintain their own schedule, including performances
twice per month at Tuesday college chapel services, and at meetings
and banquets. In four decades, the groups have given inspirational
performances at the College and in most states east of the Mississippi
River, Canada and Europe.
