Biography
Monica Gale Heard is an Instructor in the Music Department at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. She teaches applied voice, applied piano and accompanying, diction, and class voice and serves as Staff Accompanist and Vocal Coach. She also conducts the Berea College Women’s Chorus.

A native of the deep south, Miss Heard has earned Bachelors degrees from Georgetown College in piano performance and vocal performance. She is also a graduate of The Florida State University, where she has earned degrees in vocal performance and opera. She is a winner of the Metropolitan Opera auditions at the local, regional and national levels. She is also the winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist’s Award. She has done extensive performing both regionally and nationally, in both opera and art song. Some of the roles she has performed include "The Countess" in Le Nozze di Figaro, "Tosca" in Tosca, "Madame Butterfly" in Madama Butterfly, and "Fiordiligi" in Cosi fan tutte.
