Singer, songwriter, playwright, author and painter Billy Edd Wheeler to perform at Berea College June 13

| Billy Edd Wheeler will be performing and reading at Berea College on Friday, June 13 at 8 p.m. (refreshments and social time beginning at 7:30 pm) in the Activities Room of the Alumni Building. The event is free and all are invited.
Wheeler is the featured writer and author of the Winter 2008 issue of Appalachian Heritagemagazine. His performance is the latest in a series of readings of featured authors from this regional literary quarterly, published by the Appalachian Center of Berea College. Wheeler also will be displaying several of his paintings, many of which have musical themes. His books and recordings will be available for sale and signing. Wheeler has written hundreds of songs, including “Jackson,” “The Coming of the Roads,” and “Coal Tattoo.” Loretta Lynn, Judy Collins, Hank Williams, Jr. , Elvis, and almost one hundred other singers have recorded his work, selling over fifty-seven million copies altogether, and Wheeler has garnered 13 awards from ASCAP for these songs. A native of West Virginia, and a Berea College graduate (class of 1955), Wheeler is the co-author of Laughter in Appalachia and other books of humor, poetry and fiction as well as a dozen plays.
