Madison Central’s Lance Sheets continuing baseball career at Berea College

 Madison Central High School’s Lance Sheets has signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Berea College. The 6’2” senior was playing first base in a summer league game last year when he was first noticed by Berea assistant coach Todd Weaver. Weaver was umpiring a game in which Lance laced two doubles. That game jumpstarted a successful summer campaign for Sheets as he finished with a .325 average, 3 home runs, and 15 runs batted in. The game also jumpstarted the recruitment process as Coach Weaver spent part of the afternoon talking with the Central coaches, Lance and his mom about Berea College and the baseball program. That process culminated with Lance’s signing last Friday
“We’re excited that Lance has decided to continue his academic studies and his baseball career at Berea College”, said Berea head coach Ryan Hess. “Lance is a talented baseball player with tremendous upside. He’s a perfect fit for our program and we’re anxious to have him join us this fall.” Lance’s commitment comes just days before the Madison Central Indians open their regular season March 24th at Woodford County. |
