Dr. Peter Hackbert of Berea College’s Entrepreneurship for the Public Good program is speaker for Southern Kentucky Inventors and Innovations Council meeting May 14

Dr. Peter H. Hackbert of Berea College’s Entrepreneurship for the Public Good (EPG) program will be the guest speaker for the May 14 meeting of the Southern Kentucky Inventors and Innovations Council (SKIIC).  Hackbert will be speaking on the “One Page Business Plan.”The 6 p.m. meeting is scheduled at the PSR Group-PD3building located at 30 Industrial Park Road in Mt. Vernon.Peter Hackbert is the William and Kay Moore Chair in Entrepreneurship and Management and Co-Director of the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good program at Berea, where he serves as an entrepreneurship educator and management consultant.  Building upon his industry research and consulting, his current teaching interests are in emerging growth companies and new product/service development in the Appalachian Region. He is known to contribute to the infusion of an entrepreneurial mindset in students and entrepreneurs who may have little or no business or management education background.

Known as an innovative teacher, Hackbert has been a pioneer in encouraging students and institutional involvement in new venture plan competitions, creating a faculty culture supportive of experiential learning outcomes, and strengthening partnerships to foster community-based entrepreneurial leadership learning.

Dr. Hackbert has been a frequent speaker at numerous national academic and industry conferences on enterprise growth and planning, creativity, opportunity recognition, value added marketing, guerrilla marketing, principle of Internet marketing, special events marketing and “live case” study procedures and entrepreneurial practices.

Prior to joining Berea College in 2007, Hackbert was a visiting professor within The Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus and before that from 2001 to 2005 the Harold Walter Siebens Chair and Director of the Croom Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Sierra Nevada College. Hackbert was a tenured professor at California State University Monterey Bay teaching marketing, economic development and entrepreneurship from 1996 to 2001.
