Black Hawk Helicopter formation fly-over to honor Veterans during Berea College Homecoming Parade this Saturday

11/6/06
In honor of Veterans Day, Berea College has arranged a general salute and show of respect to our past and present Veterans to take place during Berea’s Homecoming Parade Saturday morning, Nov. 11.

The National Guard Aviation based out of Frankfort, KY will be doing fly-over at 11:40 a.m. Major Brian Abney, Berea Community graduate ’85 will be heading up the three Black Hawk helicopter spear tip formation. Brian Abney is the husband of Janenne Stanifer Abney ’87 and the son of William Abney and Betty Croucher of Berea.

Berea College’s Homecoming theme is “Where Friendships are Formed Fast and True”, which will be displayed by the fly-over and parade participants.

The best view for this display will be along Chestnut Street beginning on the east side of Ellipse Street or the triangle in front of the Boone Tavern Hotel.

Homecoming parade chairperson Jeannie McConnell, of Berea College Facilities Management Department, arranged the fly-over as part of the parade.

Berea College would like to invite the community to celebrate Veteran’s Day and Homecoming Weekend with us by coming out and watching both college and community participants in the parade and the military fly-over.
