Berea College Students Sponsor Community-Wide Event Benefitting the New Opportunity School for Women

Berea, KY – Berea College’s Students Organizing Community Relations, a student public relations firm sponsored by Dr. Billy Wooten is partnering with the New Opportunity School for Women to raise community awareness of the NOSW’s mission and to celebrate their supporters. On April 18, from Noon-2 p.m. at the Acton Folk Center on Jefferson Street, there will be a community wide cookout with free food, games, live music, and a raffle for door prizes (savings bonds, gift cards, gift certificates, crafts, and many more great prizes) all donated by local businesses. The event is being held to raise awareness about the New Opportunity School for Women, whose mission is to improve the educational, financial and personal circumstances of low-income women in Kentucky and south-central Appalachia. Tickets for the raffle will be offered in exchange for an in-kind donation from the list below. The more items you donate, the more chances to win.
