| Getting a seat at the annual Christmas Concert co-sponsored by Berea College’s Music Department and Campus Christian Center is going to be easier this year. The popular concert will be offered on two evenings this year, Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5. Free tickets for admission will also be used this year to guarantee patrons a seat on the night of their choice. Both performances will be at 7:30 p.m. in Union Church in Berea.
All are invited to attend this joyful two-hour candlelit Christmas celebration ushering in Berea’s Christmas Season. Join the singing of traditional carols accompanied by College Organist John Courter. Music of the season will be performed by the college’s Black Music Ensemble, Bluegrass Music Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Chamber Winds, College Community Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Women’s Chorus. The church doors will open to the public at 7 p.m. each night. As people arrive, traditional carol arrangements will be played by the organist and other instrumentalists. A special holiday reception with light refreshments will take place in the Fellowship Hall downstairs immediately after Friday night’s performance. The free tickets will be available during business hours at a number of campus locations on the following dates: Nov. 19-20, Nov. 23-24, and Nov. 30-Dec. 4. Tickets available to everyone will be distributed during weekday business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) at the Alumni Building Front Desk and can also be picked up at the Union Church office. An additional location for Berea College faculty and staff to pick up tickets will be the Campus Christian Center office in the Draper Building. Tickets may also be ordered on-line at the Music Department web page on the Berea College website or by following the link Celebration of Music . Tickets ordered on-line may be picked up at a “will call” table in the narthex before each performance. Tickets will also be available free of charge at the door before each performance if any are still available. Again this year, the annual concert is being held in conjunction with Berea’s Alternative Giving Christmas Market, which will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church before and after the concert. Information on over 30 local, state, national and international non-profit organizations will be available for alternative giving. |
