Berea College announces fellowships for traditional music study

9-19-07
Berea College is accepting proposals for its Appalachian Music Fellowship Program for 2008.  The program is designed to support graduate students, faculty, public school teachers and or performers for a period of one to three months in order to conduct research in Berea’s collection of non-commercial traditional music and to promote the preservation of and access to that music.   Fellowships can be taken between January and August 2008, with fellows expected to be in residence during the term of the fellowship period.

The fellowship program began in 2006 and is supported by a grant from the Anne Ray Charitable Trust.  Deadline for proposals is November 1.  Proposals and inquiries should be sent to Harry Rice, Special Collections and Archives, Berea College, Berea, KY  40404.

For more information, including fellowship stipend and profiles of previous fellows and their research projects, visit Berea’s Appalachian Music Fellowship web pages at Special collections
