An Evening with Award-winning TV journalist and community activist Felipe Luciano Oct. 15 at Berea College

“An Evening with Felipe Luciano:  Conversations in Brown, Black and White,” will begin at 6 p.m. in the Woods Penniman Building Commons at Berea.  Dinner is included.  The event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating RSVP is requested to the Black Cultural Center at (859) 985-3797.

The program is part of “Campus Week of Dialogue on Race and Ethnicity,” Oct. 14-20, and is sponsored by the Berea College Black Cultural Center and Francis and Louise Hutchins Center for International Education.

Committed to community empowerment, ethnic pride and civil rights, Luciano has helped change the color and complexion of politics, culture and society in New York City in his career, and continues to advise leaders of state and local governments and corporations on issues affecting growing markets, the Latino community, coalition building, diversity and multiculturalism.  He serves on the New York city Mayor’s Task Force on Police and Community Relations and recently ran for public office as a New York City Councilman in East Harlem.

As a journalist and host, Luciano was previously on air with CBS-TV’s Channel 2 “The People,” and Fox-TV’s “Good Day New York.”  In addition to his Emmys, Luciano’s other honors include an ACE (for excellence in cable television programming) and a Silurian Award.  He is a regular contributor to many New York area newspapers and magazines, including the New York Times and Essence, while continuing to write and perform his spoken word poetry.  He also is President and founder of Luciano Productions, Inc.
