Stressed, looking for something a little different, or exploring new career possibilities? A variety of fun, educational, and therapeutic activities open to the public will be offered during the World Massage Festival hosted by Berea College Thursday – June 17-20.
The public is invited to attend the tradeshow and other activities, such as demonstrations of various massage techniques and informational presentations that will educate the public about the healing properties of massage therapy and bodywork.
Friday through Sunday vendors and exhibitors will be in Seabury Center Arena. Admission is open to all and free of charge. Tradeshow hours are 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, June 18; 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, June 19 and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday, June 20. Exhibitors this year include massage product suppliers, recorded music, herbal and holistic products, hand crafted jewelry, wearable items like clothing and shoes, healthy chocolate and much more. For those exploring possible career options or who have an interest in natural healing, there will be opportunities to speak with massage therapists and other bodyworkers.
On Thursday, June 17, the Festival will join up with the Bluegrass Jam at the Tourism Bureau and participate in the weekly jam session. On Sunday, Appalachian singer/songwriter Carla Gover will be performing at 1 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall in Seabury Arena. “Sanctuary” will also be joining the Festival this year, offering a variety of massage techniques for $10 each. All proceeds will be donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The World Massage Festival was founded in 2006 by Mike Hinkle to provide a platform for professional massage therapists and bodyworkers to showcase their talents and abilities. Along with the Festival, Hinkle created the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame. For more information and a complete schedule of events, visit www.worldmassagefestival.com or call 336-957-8997.
