Mathematics and Computer Science Senior Seminar

During their senior year students majoring in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or Computer and Information Science may take the Senior Seminar course. Each student in the Seminar completes a project which begins with a lead paper that they or a faculty mentor selects for the project. The project involves reading, researching and writing a major paper, and concludes with a public presentation. For more details on content and expectations see a copy of the Senior Seminar Syllabus. When performing data analysis, it is often helpful make and test a hypothesis about certain data characteristics. Specifically, the Kruskal-Wallis (KW) test can be used to test a hypothesis about the relation of data groups under the right circumstances. However, the KW test is not normal.
