CELTS: Students for Appalachia

Department Overview

Students for Appalachia is a not-for-profit community service program at Berea College. We sponsor four programs during the academic year and two during the summer months.

Working with Students for Appalachia is a challenging assignment. It requires a great deal of an individual: a powerful desire to serve, strong leadership abilities, and unusual personal initiative. Our mission is to enrich the lives of children, adults, and the elderly in our community and to provide meaningful service, learning and leadership experiences for Berea College students.

The following programs need team members for the fall term: LEARN (one-on-one tutoring), TARGETS (teen mentoring), HEAL (Helping Earth and Learning), and Berea Buddies. Summer positions are available in our Summer Day Camp and Berea Reads programs. If interested please stop by our office to receive an application.
