Department Overview
CAB
selects three persons to hold labor positions each year:
the CAB Chair, the CAB Controller, and the CAB Secretary.
The Chair pay rate is unclassified; the Controller is
a grade 4 10-hour position; the Secretary is grade 3
pay, and a 5 hour labor position. The
remainder of the Board is composed of volunteers. CAB
plans, budgets, and implements many of the activities
on campus, including guest entertainers, movies, social
gatherings, novelty events and activities for Labor and
Mountain Days.
The
selection process, which includes interviews, is normally
held in September with an additional election in the
Spring Term if needed. You
will learn budgeting, management, organization, and such
leadership skills as motivating others and satisfying
a diverse student population. Prior
experience with an active student organization in the
past is helpful, but not required. These
are demanding positions with tremendous responsibility. Stop
by the Campus Activities Board Office for a chat if you
are interested or know someone who is, or have a recommendation
for activities or ideas.
There
are opportunities for students to assume positions with
supervisory and leadership components. We
offer positions ranging from 5 to 15 hours, and maintain
paid student positions through every break, including
summer.
