The Labor Program at Berea College

What I'm Working On

Matthew Montgomery, sophomore Economics major from Charlotte, NC, is working this summer for the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.  Matthew is typing and formatting student comments for the Instructor Evaluation Questionnaires (IEQs).  Matthew says that his work is important because this feedback helps instructors figure out what works and what doesn’t work in their classrooms, and it helps the College understand student needs (e.g., not so many early classes, please!)

Lauren Lane, junior Chemistry major from the Dominican Republic, is preparing a window display in the Bookstore. This will provide an attractive backdrop for customers, encouraging them to come into the store and browse. Lauren is working at the Bookstore this summer while taking GSTR 332 with Professor Lahamer.

Emmy Toroitich, sophomore Nursing major from Kenya, works as a teacher’s assistant in the infant room at the Child Development Laboratory.  Emmy believes the experience she gains working with children will help her become a better nurse.
