Labor Positions in TRIO: Upward Bound
Upward Bound is a Berea College outreach program, serving bright high school students from five counties in south central Kentucky. The program is designed to provide participants with the skills and motivation necessary for success in post-secondary education.
Upward Bound seeks academic year Office Assistant staff as well as summer Tutor Counselor (TC’s) staff.
TCs develop teaching, counseling, and leadership skills, which are valuable in their preparation for a career. TC’s must be mature, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision. Upward Bound hires as many as 20 TC’s for summer employment. Office Staff work in concert with administrative and associate staff to provide clerical support to the program. Office staff has an opportunity to learn basic office skills which are valuable in their preparation for a career.
Upward Bound also hires twelve TCs to work in the summer residential component of the program.
