Services wants to continue its commitment of supporting the
community where technology meets the classroom. Media Service’s
large format printer is getting tremendous use. This guide for
large
format printing will assist faculty, staff and students in
obtaining the best results for a large format print. Media Services
has
a more detailed pamphlet available upon request via email or
pickup.
Media Services has made this reference guide to make large format
printing easier for you. All of the following information is important
to insure that your project will print properly.
I. Software we support:
- PowerPoint:
Supported image format: *.JPEG, *.PICT, *.TIFF *.PPT
- Adobe Photoshop: Supported image format: *.JPEG, *.PICT, *.TIFF,
*.PSD
- Adobe Illustrator: (not preferred) Supported image format:
*.JPEG, *.PICT, *.TIFF, *.IA
II. Media Services Large Format
Printer:
- Printer Model: Epson 9000
- Paper Dimensions: 34” X 36” *We
can not print out to a full 3 feet (36 in.)
- Paper Media Types:
Presentation Matte Paper or Glossy Poster Paper
- Paper Media
Size: 914mm (36 inches) x 25m (*The printer will not print
all the way to the edge of the paper. Therefore one
side of the poster needs to
be set to 34 inches).
- Media Services Computers: Media Services uses Windows
XP for compatibility.
- Cost: $11.25 a roller foot
- Size: 34 inches X ? feet (compute the cost)
III. Lamination:
- Cost: $1.00
a roller foot
- Size: 38 inches X ? feet (compute the cost)
IV. Mounting:
Media Services
does not mount posters. We recommend laminating the poster. The
customer may buy foam board at the College Bookstore
and glue Velcro to
the poster and the foam board for easy mounting. A spray adhesive may also
be used. Limited mounting services may be available from the Appalachian
Center Artifacts & Exhibits Studio. Contact the studio at x3373
to see if your project can be mounted.
NOTE: Media Services requires at least a 24 hour advance notice
to complete your printing project. Large class projects may take
longer to complete.
