Students

Through the EDGE (Empowering a Dynamic Generation through Education) program, Berea College provides each student with a laptop. When students obtain junior classification, they receive a new laptop computer in which they will keep upon graduating from Berea College.

To obtain your new EDGE laptop computer and/or access a college computer, you will need to follow the steps below.

  1. Make sure you have a valid college ID. If you do not have a valid college ID, please visit Chris Thomas in Lincoln, Student Service Center. If you are a ROW student who received a temporary account, you will still need a valid college ID before you can pick up your student laptop.

  2. Please read through the IS&S Network Usage Guidelines and the Berea College Computer and Network Policy. You will be responsible for abiding by these rules and guidelines.

  3. Bring your college ID to the IS&S Laptop Training and Distribution Appointment. You will receive the specific date, time and location in your orientation packet.

  4. You will be required to sign a Participation Agreement in order to receive your laptop. This signature binds you to following the guidelines and policies.

Faculty / Staff

If you are a new faculty or staff member, we recommend you contact your department supervisor about obtaining a previously used computer or a new computer.

Before you can access a computer, you will need a network and e-mail account. To do so,

  1. Make sure you have a college ID. If you do not have a college ID, please visit Chris Thomas in Lincoln, Student Service Center.

  2. Please read through the IS&S Network Usage Guidelines and the Berea College Computer and Network Policy. You will be responsible for abiding by these rules and guidelines.

  3. Bring your college ID to the IS&S Service Desk, located in the Computer Center adjacent to Hutchins Library.

  4. Specify that you are a new faculty or staff member and that you want to sign up for a new account. (Network and e-mail accounts are the same.)

The Service Desk will request a signature on the account application. This signature binds you to following the guidelines and policies.

Your new account will be available in roughly 24 hours.
