- ACA: Appalachian College Association

Appalachian College Association is a consortium of 33 private
liberal arts colleges spread across the central Appalachian Mountains
in
Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
- ACE: American Council on Education
The
American Council on Education (ACE) is the nation's coordinating
higher education association.
- AIKCU: The Association of Independent
Kentucky Colleges and Universities
The Association
supports Kentucky's regionally accredited, non tax-supported,
nonprofit colleges and universities in the areas of government
relations, fundraising, research, cooperative programs and
public relations.

The Association for Institutional
Research (AIR) is dedicated to professional growth of all who

Classification of Institutions of Higher Education
The
Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education
is the leading typology of American colleges and universities.
It is the framework in which institutional diversity in U.S.
higher education is commonly described. Most of the Carnegie
Foundation's higher education projects rely on the Classification
to ensure a representative selection of participating individuals
and institutions.
- CDSX: Common Data
Set Exchange
The purpose of the Common
Data Set Exchange is two-fold: (1) to facilitate online exchanges
of CDS data (a well-defined set of standard data items constructed
with the collaboration of four major publishers: the College
Board, Peterson's, U.S. News & World Report, and Wintergreen/Orchard
House); and (2) to provide useful and timely peer analyses
for its members.

Colleges
Founded in 1956, CIC is an association
of independent colleges and universities working together to
support college leadership, advance institutional excellence,
and enhance private higher education's contributions to society.
CIC is the only national organization that focuses solely on
providing services directly to independent colleges and universities.

Resources
The College and University Professional Association for
Human Resources (CUPA-HR) is an institutionally based association
of
higher education human resource (HE-HR) professionals.

Resources Information Center - Clearinghouse on Higher Education
The
Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national
information system designed to provide users with ready access
to an extensive body of education-related literature.
- HEDS: Higher Education
Data Sharing
The Higher Education Data Sharing
(HEDS) Consortium is a voluntary not-for-profit organization
that assists member institutions in their planning, management,
and institutional research.
- HERI: Higher Education Research Institute
The Higher Education Research Institute is based in the Graduate
School of Education & Information Studies at the University
of California, Los Angeles. The Institute serves as an interdisciplinary
center for research, evaluation, information, policy studies,
and research training in postsecondary education. HERI's research
program covers a variety of topics including the outcomes of
postsecondary education, leadership development, faculty performance,
federal and state policy, and educational equity.
- IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System)
IPEDS established as the core postsecondary education data collection
program for NCES, is a system of surveys designed to collect
data from all primary providers of postsecondary education.
IPEDS is a single, comprehensive system designed to encompass
all institutions and educational organizations whose primary
purpose is to provide postsecondary education. The IPEDS system
is built around a series of interrelated surveys to collect
institution-level data in such areas as enrollments, program
completions, faculty, staff, and finances.
- KAIR:
Kentucky Association for Institutional Research
The
purpose of the Association is to advance research and knowledge
leading to greater understanding, planning, and operation of
institutions of post secondary education throughout the state
of Kentucky.
- KCPE:
Kentucky Council on Post secondary Education
The
Council on Post secondary Education is charged with leading
the reform efforts envisioned by state policy leaders.

Portal: This site
provides tables, graphs, reports, and maps with data at the
state and institutional levels about a variety of data (e.g.
diversity, enrollment, faculty and staff, finance, etc.).
It also provides links to national data sources.

Minter Associates is a research and publishing firm specializing
in comparative performance and planning studies and databases
for colleges and universities nationwide and abroad.
- NAICU: National
Association of Independent Colleges and Universities
The Association supports accredited,
non tax-supported, nonprofit colleges and universities in the

- NCES: National Center
for Education Statistics
The National Center for
Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for
collecting and analyzing data that are related to education
in the United States and other nations.
- Digest
of Education Statistics
The Digest provides a compilation of statistical information
covering the broad field of American education from prekindergarten
through graduate school. The Digest contains data on a
variety of topics, including the number of schools and
colleges, teachers, enrollments, and graduates, in addition
to educational attainment, finances, and federal funds
for education, libraries, and international comparisons.

Costs and Prices
This study examines the relationship
between costs and prices at groups of public and private not-for-profit
institutions, and explores the potential association between
financial aid and tuition, using data primarily from the Integrated
Post secondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
- SACS: Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools - Commission on Colleges
The
Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools is the recognized regional accrediting body in
eleven U.S. Southern states and in Latin America for those
institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate,
and master's of doctoral degrees.
- SAIR: Southern Association for
Institutional Research
The Southern Association for
Institutional Research (SAIR) is dedicated to the advancement
of research leading to improved understanding, planning, and
operation of institutions of Post secondary education.
- Work Colleges Consortium (WCC)
Berea College is a member of this consortium along with six other colleges that all have work programs. On each campus, there has been a historical recognition of the value of work and an institutional commitment to promote an understanding of that value among students through establishment of a work program. These work programs help students to understand work as a tool for experiential education, as a means of serving the community, and as a place for integrating academic learning, practical knowledge, and life lived in the larger community. The colleges blend courses in liberal learning and applied studies with their own particular vision of the undergraduate curriculum.
