| Steps
for a Successful Internship |

Step 1. Find a placement
- Ask a professor in your department
- Cold call local businesses (in Berea or near your home).
- Inquire at an organization you are familiar with.
- Search on line.
- Look in the Internships Outlook Public Folder.
- Consult Internship Coordinator or office staff.
- Volunteer for a non-profit organization
Step 2. Access the Internship proposal form via the Internship Office Outlook Public Folder.
- Complete all aspects of the proposal, requiring typed information.
- Use current sources for your bibliography, especially scholarly journals.
- Be specific about your final project and paper, including number of pages it will be.
- Remember! You are proposing a class credit. It must be academically viable.
- Discuss your proposal with your sponsors.
Step 3. Obtain required signatures on COMPLETED Proposal.
- If a signature cannot be obtained, letter of acceptance will suffice.
- International students must obtain the International Student Advisor's signature.
- U.S. citizens completing an internship abroad must obtain the Study Abroad Advisor's signature.
- Internship for GST credit, require the Associate Dean of General Studies
- All internship proposals require the signature of a Financial Aid Officer. (The proposal must be completely filled out to obtain their signature.)
Step 4. Submit a copy of your proposal to the Internship Office for review and registration of your proposal for acceptance
Step 5. Your proposal will be reviewed by the Internship Coordinator. If it is deemed acceptable you will be registered for the credit.
- If your proposal is not accepted you will notified and assisted with corrections necessary to be accepted.
If your proposal is accepted you will be contacted with a letter acceptance |
