Digital Library of Appalachia
The Digital Library of Appalachia is a creation of the Appalachian College Association. This website provides online access to materials related to the culture of the southern Appalachian region culled from member institutions archives and special collections.

Berea College Special Collections and Archives
This website provides portal to Berea’s extensive regional collection and its own institutional history. It is a particularly rich in digital audio files. A few minutes invested here can help organize your research.

Library of Congress collection offers a variety of primary sources, both graphics and text, on myriad American topics spanning the life of the republic.

Core Documents of U.S. Democracy
“ These titles contain information which is vital to the democratic process and critical to an informed electorate.” Collection includes cornerstone documents, presidential papers, judicial opinions and laws. Sponsored by the Government Printing Office, this project is ongoing.

Documenting the American South
“ Documenting the American South (DocSouth) is a digital publishing initiative that provides Internet access to texts, images, and audio files related to southern history, literature, and culture. Currently DocSouth includes ten thematic collections of books, diaries, posters, artifacts, letters, oral history interviews, and songs.”

Google Books
Perhaps most useful to humanities researchers, this service from Google provides access to full-text works that constitute primary sources from 19th and early 20th centuries.

Internet History Sourcebooks
This was one of the first online primary source collections. While you may find some broken links, it is an excellent starting place for Humanities and some Social Sciences.

Women Working, 1800-1930
Harvard University project provides access to approximately 500,000 digitized pages and images.
