The History department offers a few labor positions for teaching
and research assistants, and office staff.

The Archives and Special Collections division of Hutchins
Library offers practical
experience in arranging, describing, and preservation of archival
and manuscript
materials documenting Berea College and Southern Appalachia.
Interested students
should consult with College Archivist, Shannon Wilson.

The Artifacts and Exhibits Studio at the Appalachian Center
offers experience in working with historical artifacts and images,
and presenting history through exhibits. In addition to labor
positions during the academic year, the studio offers paid summer
internships (which can be done for academic credit in History).

History students are encouraged to pursue study abroad in
areas of interest to them, through short term offerings, KIIS
programs and other specialized programs. Students interested
in such programs should consult with the department about how
such course offerings might contribute to the major.
