About the Department

Welcome to the Berea College Health Service (CHS), a division of Student Life Services. We are located on the 2nd floor of St. Joseph Berea Hospital. CHS’ mission is to provide all members of the Berea College campus community (students, faculty, staff and dependents age 3-23) with the medical and educational services necessary to maintain, regain, or promote optimal health.

There are a variety of clinical services that we offer. We provide care for acute and chronic illnesses, health maintenance, and minor surgery (such as laceration repair). Routine health maintenance includes physical exams, pelvic exams and pap smears, blood pressure monitoring, immunizations, and allergy injections. Strep screens, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, blood glucose testing, and cholesterol screening are also available on-site.

Professional counseling and psychological services are provided for Berea College students.

CHS providers (two doctors and a nurse practitioner) work with other providers in Berea and elsewhere. Referrals for specialists or services not provided at CHS can be arranged by discussion with any CHS provider. We are available to coordinate your care and to help you to live the healthiest possible life with the least expense to you and your family.
