NBA Coach and Estill County native Lee Rose will speak with the 8th grade at Estill Co. Middle School on Tuesday September 11.

Growing up poor, Coach Rose relays how school support, mentors, determination and hard work can get students to achieve their dreams. He discusses overcoming early challenges and becoming the first in his family to earn a college degree.  

Coach Rose also became one of only 10 coaches to reach the NCAA Final Four with two different colleges. He attended Estill Co. Schools and graduated from Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky.  He was head coach at Transylvania, Univ. of North Carolina, Purdue and the Univ. of Florida. Coach Rose also has coached U.S.  international basketball teams including U.S.  Olympic teams and is currently with the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. Coach Rose is the supervisor of the coaches in the NBA Developmental League.
