Berea, KY—On April, 13 Zig Wajler of “Hands on with Zig” performed
for all the students at Berea Community Elementary School.
Zig Wajler has been a professional musician, composer and arranger
for over 25 years and is the author of 'World Beat Fun'. Zig plays
Drums, Percussion, and Keyboards. As an educator for K-12 Schools, “Hands
On with Zig” has been presented throughout the nation to
over 1 MILLION attendees. Students of all ages in K-12 school systems,
universities, teachers and parents have participated in these programs.
“Hands On with Zig” is a very interactive program
where students are able to perform on various types of percussion
instruments and to learn about rhythms and music from Ghana, Nigeria
and the Dominican Republic to name a few.
In order for the students to “qualify” to participate
in the performance they must answer certain musical questions that
will be included on the CATS assessment.
The students at BCES thoroughly enjoyed ‘Hands On with Zig” and
became better prepared for the CATS assessment which begins this
week.
“Hands on with Zig” was sponsored by the Berea College
GEAR UP Partnership.
