Irvine, KY—The Berea College GEAR UP Partnership program at Estill County Middle School sponsored a “College Door Decorating Contest” the week of March 13.

Teachers and their first period class decorated a door in a college theme. Several teachers and students participated developing some great college themes including Eastern Kentucky University, The College of William and the University of Connecticut to name a few.

The students learned some of the history about the different colleges they researched, and had fun too! The first place winner was Berea College, the Second place winner was Ohio State and the Third place winner was William and Mary.

The first place teacher received dinner for two at the Acres of Land Winery in Richmond and the students all received Wendy’s coupons. GEAR UP would like to thank all those who participated and the Acres of Land Winery and Wendy’s for contributing to our contest.
