Berea, KY—Foley Middle School continued developing their “college
going culture” by sponsoring a Collegiate Door Decorating
Contest.
The theme for the contest (developed by GEAR UP Counselor Cindy
Saylor) was “Developing a College Going Culture at Foley.”
Teachers, in collaboration with students, were encouraged to decorate
their classroom doors to represent different aspects of college
life or to decorate with the colors/mascots/mottos/etc. of various
colleges around the United States.
The goal of the project was to have student’s start thinking
about various post-secondary education options available in and
out of state.
Possible topics included athletics, social activities, clubs and
organizations, sororities/fraternities, etc. The first place prize
winner selected on February 13th was Ginnifer Saylor-Watts. Watts
decorated her door with an Eastern Kentucky University motif. Watts
first place prize was a dinner for two at Rossi’s in Lexington,
KY.
Congratulations Ms. Saylor-Watts!
