On Friday, January 13th, GEAR UP made it possible for my 7th grade class, at Lee County Middle School, to go to Hastings in Richmond to buy books for our classroom. There is no way to express my gratitude for this opportunity. The enthusiasm my students are showing during our daily reading session proves the success of the trip.

During the trip we also had a wonderful tour of E.K.U. and a fantastic lunch at Applebees. My kids are still talking about this experience. It was the first time most of them had ever ordered from a menu! Every part of the trip was perfect because of the careful planning of our GEAR UP Counselor, Willie Addison.

It was awesome!
