“Nine people in our family are Berea
graduates. Because Berea has made a profound difference in all
our lives, we feel it is just magical for us to return to the College
to help enable other people to have the same opportunities we did.”

Speaking on behalf of the Frank Fife family about their gift to
the
Child Development Laboratory
The quality of the Berea College experience for our 1,500 students
is greatly enhanced by such recent construction and renovation
projects as the Draper Classroom Building, the Dimitrie Berea Art
Gallery, and the Presser Music Building. These and other familiar
names around campus—Danforth Chapel, Seabury Center, Bingham
and Kettering halls—all recognize faithful and generous leaders
and supporters of Berea College. None of these projects succeeds
without the support of alumni, friends, and foundations.
The Boyd and Gaynell Fowler Child Development Laboratory was recently
funded entirely by gifts from alumni, friends, trustees, staff,
and foundations. This new facility completed the Ecological Village,
thanks to the enthusiastic support of hundreds of donors, many
of whose names are prominently displayed throughout the facility.
Gifts from Gaynell Fowler and Frank Fife (pictured above) have
been instrumental in making this project a reality.
Greathearted donors are also identified by programs and endowed
chairs such as the William and Kaye Moore Chair in Entrepreneurship,
the Compton Chair of Ecological Design, the Goode Professorship
in Black and Appalachian Studies, and the William R. Gruver Chair
of Leadership Studies.
In addition to named buildings and endowed chairs, across the
campus there are many plaques that make visible the support of
hundreds of friends over many years, as well as numerous programs
and scholarships that recognize and honor those who tied themselves
to Berea College.
