Berea College helps students achieve their goal of a college degree. Unlike other colleges and universities, Berea admits only academically gifted, low-income students and provides them with a stellar liberal arts education. All students receive a four-year tuition scholarship, real-life work experience through a required work program, and the opportunity to serve their college, community, and beyond. We give our students an edge and a chance to beat the odds.
At Berea College, no student pays tuition, but all students work. That’s the Berea Way. In addition to rigorous classes and many activities, students work a minimum of 10 hours per week—from tending the College farms to repairing computers—and gain valuable skills while earning money for room, board, and other personal costs. Through their campus jobs, such students as Tyler, Konul, Phil, and Geri have discovered passions and aptitudes that will serve them well in the world beyond Berea.
No tuition. Academic excellence. Hard work. You help our students live the Berea Way.
