Tree Campus

Tree Campus

At Berea College, we know trees are vital part of campus. From improving the mental and physical health of campus members to providing shade and sequestering carbon, the urban forest of Berea College's campus provides numerous benefits.

We are a proud member of the Arbor Day Foundation's Tree Campus- Higher Education. To receive this recognition, we have met their 5 standards by having:

  • An established tree committee, with members from students, faculty, staff, and the broader Berea community.
  • A tree care plan.
  • Annual expenditures dedicated to tree planting and care.
  • An Arbor Day observation
  • A service-learning project that engages the student body.

For a closer look at our campus trees, check out our Campus Tree Map and our Campus Tree Dashboard.

Tree Committee

Our campus tree committee is dedicated to the proper care of our campus urban forest.
We are guided by the campus Tree Care Plan to make informed decisions regarding tree planting, care, and removal.
