About the Upward Bound Math & Science - Woodson Institute (WI)
UBMS serves 9th – 12th grade students with an interest in Math & Science from the following schools:
Berea Community High School
Estill County High School
Jackson County High School
Lee County High School
Madison Central High School
Madison Southern High School
Rockcastle County High School
To participate, students must:
Have an interest in going to college
Be interested in focusing their education on Math or Science
Attend 9th – 11th grade in one of the above schools
Meet income criteria or
Be the first member of their family who would attend a 4-year college
Attend 3 workshops per month – one Saturday morning & 2 afterschool
(For their efforts, students receive $10 for afterschool workshops & $20 for Saturdays)
Have the maturity to commit 6 weeks to the summer residential program where they stay in Berea’s dorms & take classes
