Kentucky College Coaches AmeriCorps Program
Berea College partners with Northern Kentucky University’s Kentucky Campus Compact program to place AmeriCorps members, called College Coaches, in high schools throughout Kentucky. Berea is currently recruiting for members to serve at the following schools:
Clay County High School, Manchester, KY
Jackson County High School, McKee, KY
Estill County High School, Irvine, KY
Madison Central High School, Richmond, KY
Kentucky College Coaches work to ensure that high school students, especially first generation college-going, low-income and minority students, get the information and knowledge they need to make educated decisions and plans for their future.
Coaches serve as AmeriCorps members in schools, working approximately 40 hours a week or 1700 hours over 10 months. All coaches receive a modest living allowance ($12,100 per service term or approximately $1,210 per month before taxes), an education award ($5,550), healthcare benefits and childcare assistance.
Requirements for AmeriCorps service include proof of citizenship or permanent residency, a clean federal background check and a clear sexual predator check. The College Coaches positions also require a bachelor’s degree.
