Ilyas worked at the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation as a business development analyst. Ilyas consulted with small business clients, provided business planning assistance, conducted credit analysis, and forecasted and completed financial statements.
Melvin Cowan
Internship: The Institute for Entrepreneurship, Milwaukee, WI
Melvin worked for the Institute for Entrepreneurship. He developed a curriculum for teaching two summer camp sessions and conducted one week of camp for young entrepreneurs. He also wrote grant proposals for the Institute.
Kathleen Davis
Internship: Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival, Cincinnati, OH
Katie Davis interned with the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival. She was the box office manager and completed marketing for the festival which included web site design, creating programs in Photoshop, and developed other promotional materials. Through the experience, Katie gained an in-depth understanding of the business side of professional theater.

Jeremy Khela worked for the Kentucky Artisan Center, providing accounting and accounting-related services including handling invoices, managing purchases, completing cost analysis and preparing financial reports.
Jesse Likens
Internship: Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Berea, KY
Jesse Likens worked for Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and collected information on the topic: “Does mountain top removal mining help or hurt economic development in Appalachia?” His work included developing a presentation on strip mining and writing an article for the organization’s newsletter.
Katy McLean Maney
Internship: Flying High Design, Berea, KY
Katy McLean Maney became an account coordinator with Flying High Design. In this capacity she wrote copy, developed client estimates, completed client billing and time analysis, conducted research and learned new design software programs.
Carolyn McQueen
Internship: Big Sandy Child Advocacy Center & Safe Place, Pikeville, KY
Carolyn McQueen divided her time between a Big Sandy Child Advocacy Center domestic violence shelter and a Safe Place Center that dealt with child sexual abuse. She did case management and learned how to handle crisis calls as well as general ones. She worked family support and therapy and provided services to victims.

Internship: Hospice Care Plus, Inc. , Inc., Berea, KY
Cindie Mills worked at Hospice Care Plus to help promote awareness of Hospice by developing public relations materials, managing a fundraising project and coordinating donor development efforts.
Mai Nguyen
Internship: Hindman Settlement School, Hindman, KY
Mai Nguyen graduated from Berea in May 2005 and completed a non-credit internship with the Hindman Settlement School where she tutored students in math as part of the school’s six-week summer tutorial program.

Internship: Mountain Maternal Health League Planned Parenthood, Berea, KY
Emily Potter worked at Mountain Maternal Health League to help organize and direct educational presentations about the League’s services as well as to explore community-centered events to promote the organization.

Jason Saunders interned with Forsight Commercial Real Estate and created marketing materials and market segmentation for various target markets. As part of his internship, he received his real estate license.
Esther White
Internship: Habitat for Humanity, Berea, KY
Esther White worked with Habitat for Humanity providing assistance in accounting and creating financial reports for the annual report, grant research, and developed a checklist of land acquisition criteria and a site selection rating scale.
Jamal Williams
Internship: Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, London, KY
Jamal Williams worked with the Kentucky public defender’s office in London, KY to learn the legal justice system. He helped with investigation, jury selection, heard mock trials and interviewed clients and witnesses.
Morgan Younge
Internship: Juneteenth Legacy Theatre, Louisville, KY
Morgan Younge worked with the Juneteenth Legacy Theater to help manage marketing materials, media follow-up, stage management, and production. Her work included performing, producing playbills and making arrangements for guest artists.
