Beginning in the Fall 2003 semester, the college, for purposes of calculating grade point average, assigns the following weights:

A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, and F = 0.0.

The policy allows each faculty member the freedom to choose whether to award plus and/or minus grades. Department members choosing to award plus and/or minus grades have full departmental support; likewise, department members choosing not to award plus and/or minus grades have full departmental support. Each faculty member must state in the course syllabi whether plus and/or minus grades will be awarded and how these distinctions will be made.
